Russian Sugar-Beet Planting Area Is Seen Declining 15% by Ikar

March 14 (Bloomberg) -- Russian farmers will reduce the area sown with sugar beets by 15 percent in 2013-14, Dmitry Rylko, general director of the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies, said today at a conference in Moscow. The drop stems from low domestic beet prices and limited refining capacity and may lead to a small increase in sugar imports, according to Ikar, as the institute is known.
