IKAR in Mass MediaBuckwheat yield in Russia up 7% in 2025, harvest will exceed demand - Agriculture MinistryMOSCOW. Oct 3 (Interfax) - Russia had harvested 430,000 tonnes of buckwheat by October 3, with its yield amounting to 13.4 centners per hectare, up 7% from the figure for the previous year (12.5 centners per hectare), the Agriculture Ministry said. "Domestic demand for this agricultural crop is around 900,000 tonnes per year. Its gross harvest is expected to be above this level in 2025, which given high carry-over stocks will not only fully supply processing enterprises with the necessary raw materials, but also preserve opportunities for export," the ministry said. Currently, retail prices for buckwheat are 2.5% lower than the level of the same period last year, the ministry said. As reported, according to Rosstat data, the sown areas for buckwheat this year decreased to 746,000 ha from 1.092 million ha in 2024. Producers of buckwheat groats raised prices for their products 10.5% month-on-month in August, although in previous months they decreased. Production of this groat decreased 5% in 7M to 296,900 tonnes. Consumer prices for buckwheat increased 0.6% in the week from September 23 to 29. The reduction in areas under buckwheat this year and, as a consequence, the possible decrease in its harvest is traditional for the 4-5 year production cycle, the general director of the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR) Dmitry Rylko previously told Interfax. Production growth in previous years created large stocks of buckwheat, which provide a certain "safety cushion," he said. According to data as of July 1, stocks of buckwheat in large procurement and processing enterprises, excluding agricultural organizations, amounted to 180,000 tonnes. They were 118,000 tonnes a year ago. 03 октября 2025 года Source: Interfax | #grain | Comments: 0 Views: 33
