Russia to harvest 140-145 mln tons of grain in 2025 under best-case scenario, expert says

TASS

Russia harvested 128 mln metric tons of grain as of 2024's year-end, including more than 84 mln metric tons of wheat

MOSCOW, February 13. /TASS/. Russia could harvest more grain in 2025 than in the previous year and the best-case projection may even reach 140-145 mln metric tons, Deputy CEO of the United Grain Company Ksenia Bolomatova stated at the Where the Margin Is 2025 International Conference.

"Relying on a prediction of fundamentally good and satisfactory condition of the greater portion of winter crops and on the forecast of the Agriculture Ministry on the growth of the crop area, we expect the harvest of the upcoming season to be higher than the harvest of 2024 in the worst-case scenario, and will be substantially higher and capable of reaching 140-145 mln metric tons in the best-case scenario," Bolomatova said.

Russia harvested 128 mln metric tons of grain as of 2024's year-end, including more than 84 mln metric tons of wheat. "We see a certain decline. The main factor for such a decrease is agro-climatic circumstances, as a result of which we see the yield reduction," the senior executive said. No further reduction in yields is expected later, at the same time.

Russia achieved the record-high grain harvest of 158 mln metric tons as of 2022 year-end, while it was 147 mln metric tons in 2023, she added.
