Russian Beet-Sugar Production Forecast Cut 5% on Drought by IKAR

Sept. 9 (Bloomberg) -- Russia may produce 2.65 million metric tons of beet-sugar this season, about 5 percent less than an Aug. 25 estimate of 2.8 million tons, Evgeny Ivanov, a sugar analyst at IKAR said by e-mail today.

The Moscow-based group estimated output at 3.7 million tons in July before a record heat wave and drought in central Russia. Beet-sugar is produced from domestically grown sugar beets.
