Russian Beet-Sugar Output May Exceed 6.5m Tons in 2017-18: IKAR

Production in season started in Aug. may rise due to higher-than-expected sugar content in beets, Evgeny Ivanov, analyst at Institute for Agricultural Market Studies, or IKAR, said by email.

• Sugar content 14.11% so far vs 13.21% last year
• Sugar refineries produced 3.9m tons of sugar as of Nov. 7 vs 3.4m tons a year earlier
• NOTE: Russia produced 6.2m tons of beet sugar in previous season; Agriculture Ministry said sugar exports this season might double to 700,000 tons
