Russia- Russia sugar beet crop increased 6.1% on the year in 2016

Russia's sugar beet crop increased to 1.08 million hectares (2.67 million acres)in 2016, 6.1% higher than the crop area planted during the same period in 2015, Russia's Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR) said. The largest sugar beet crop growths took place in Russia's southern region, with an 11.2% growth year on year, and the Caucasus and Central Asia (CCA) region, with a 5.7% growth.

The Altai region saw a 5.5% growth compared to the same period in 2015. As of June 17, Russia’s total sugar beet crop area of 1.08 million hectares is 1.9% higher than the 2016 forecast, according to Russia's Ministry of Agriculture Platts/Kingsman Daily Sugar News
