Russian prices lower

Ikar or the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies said its white sugar price index for Russia's south dropped to US$612 per mt last week compared with US$617 per mt a week earlier, Reuters reports.

Raw sugar volumes handled by Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port Group in January-September grew by 27.6% on the year to 842,900mt from 660,400mt in the same nine months of 2013, the Group said in a press release. The rise was due to the general increase in sugar shipments as well as the concentration of sugar traffic at Novorossiysk.
