Russia- Russian sugar stocks hit 15-year high at 1 mil mt

Russia's sugar inventories from the beginning of the 2015-16 season through the end of April reached a 15-year record of 1 million mt, a 74% increase from sugar inventory levels during the same period the prior year, according to Russia's Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR). IKAR said that Russia's sugar stocks were boosted by record beet sugar production during the 2015-16 season, with a peak in production from September through December 2015. Russia's 2015-16 sugar output levels reached 5.19 million mt in April. Current sugar inventories combined with continued white sugar imports from Belarus should be sufficient to meet domestic demand through the end of the 2015-16 season in October, said IKAR.
