Cold, Wet Weather Slowed Russian Sugar-Beet Sowing: IKAR

(Bloomberg) -- Russia’s sugar-beet sowing campaign is almost complete, with 97% of the forecast 1.03m hectares already planted, but sowing was delayed versus last year due to cold and wet weather, IKAR analyst Evgeny Ivanov said by email.

Sowing was delayed in the south by four to five weeks compared with early 2020, by two weeks in Russia’s central region, and by one to two weeks in the Volga-Ural and Altai regions

Ivanov says sowing in 2020 was unusually early, and 2020 crop yields were poor
